Fabio Vieira could be about to re-unite with Arsenal's former assistant manager, Carlos Cuesta, if a deal can be agreed to take the 25-year-old Portuguese attacking midfielder from Arsenal to Parma.
As the newly appointed Head Coach at Serie A side, Parma, Cuesta is keen to make Vieira his first signing in his primary Head Coach role.
It is claimed that the Gunners will demand a fee in excess of £20 million which will constitute a loss on the £34 million that Arsenal paid for Vieira in 2022.
Vieira registered 20 goal involvements in 27 Porto appearances
Vieira came through the academy system at Porto, breaking into the first-team in the 2021/22 season. In his breakout season, Vieira registered 20 goal involvements (goals and assists) in 27 Liga Portugal appearances.
This drew the attention of Arsenal who signed Vieira in June 2022 for a reported fee of £34 million.
Vieira went has gone on to make 49 appearances for the Gunners. He has scored three times, including two in the Premier League and one in the UEFA Europa League.
In late December 2023, Vieira suffered a groin injury that needed surgery and that kept him out of Action for two months. Vieira re-joined Porto on loan in the summer of 2024 and featured recently in the Club World Cup where he registered an assist in Porto's 4-4 draw against Ahly SC.
Carlos Cuesta will be desperate to link up with Fabio Vieira

The new Parma Head Coach will be desperate to recruit a player that he has worked with before and Vieira could be the perfect signing.
Cuesta takes on the role at Parma after five years as Mikel Arteta's assistant. He will not have an easy ride in Italy. Parma finished 16th in Serie A last season, surviving courtesy of a 3-2 away win at Atalanta on the final matchday of the season.
Cuesta was part of Santa Catalina Atlético academy in Mallorca but decided to study for a career in football management when he turned 18. He started his career at Atletico Madrid where he was manager of the academy side. In 2018, Cuesta swapped Madrid for Turin when he joined Juventus as their youth academy manager. He was a relative unknown in England before he came to Arsenal as Arteta's assistant.
Perhaps Arteta has agreed to do his former assistant a favour in offering him to Parma. With so many new signings coming into Arsenal this summer, the £20 million for Vieira could prove very useful indeed.
