Arsenal travel to face Sunderland tomorrow afternoon as they close out the Premier League period before the international break.

The Gunners defeated Slavia Prague 3-0 last time out to make it four wins from four in the Champions League. Bukayo Saka opened the scoring from the penalty spot before makeshift striker Mikel Merino grabbed a second-half brace to secure the three points.

Sunderland were held in their previous outing, drawing 1-1 at home to Everton. Granit Xhaka hit back after Iliman Ndiaye had put the Toffees ahead during the opening 15 minutes at the Stadium of Light. That stalemate saw them go fourth in the league table.

As Mikel Arteta's side look to continue their title push and Régis Le Bris' counterparts aim to maintain their challenge for the European spots, this will be a highly competitive game and it's not entirely clear who will come out on top.

Here's our preview of Arsenal's trip to Sunderland.

Arsenal team news

Mikel Arteta has no new injury concerns following the win at Slavia Prague, but will be forced to make the same changes he had to in the Czech capital.

Viktor Gyökeres will be unavailable once again through injury with makeshift striker Mikel Merino likely to fill in for him up front. Gabriel Martinelli, Kai Havertz, Gabriel Jesus, Noni Madueke and Martin Ødegaard will also remain absent for the clash.

One boost comes in the form of Martín Zubimendi, who should return to the midfield for the trip to Sunderland. He was suspended against Slavia, but should be ready to come back into the starting lineup tomorrow.

Predicted Arsenal lineup vs Sunderland: Raya; Timber, Saliba, Gabriel, Calafiori; Eze, Zubimendi, Rice; Saka, Merino, Trossard

Sunderland vs Arsenal score prediction

Both sides have had incredibly impressive starts to the season. Arsenal have kickstarted a strong title challenge in the opening months while Sunderland have defied expectations to be sat in the Champions League spots.

The Black Cats are yet to lose at home this campaign while the Gunners find themselves in strong form, having won their last eight games in all competitions without conceding.

Mikel Arteta's side are by far the stronger team, but Sunderland will be prepared to cause them some problems. It will be no walkover at the Stadium of Light and while Arsenal are likely to take all three points, it could be a scrappy win.

Prediction: Sunderland 0-1 Arsenal
