Arsenal remain in talks with Bundesliga side VfB Stuttgart over a possible departure of Fabio Vieira with those discussions now centered on a loan move, according to the Athletic.
The temporary move would include an obligatory buy clause should certain performance-led targets are met with a figure in the region of £17million discussed. The Gunners had previously been urged to lower their demanding fee for Vieira.
Having been excluded from the matchday squad in the season-opening win against Manchester United, the former Portugal youth international looks to be on his way out of Arsenal this summer and Stuttgart could be his destination.

Arsenal are prioritising outgoings throughout the remainder of the transfer window with Vieira tipped to be one of the many names expected to be sold to fund a potential seventh signing of the summer.
West Ham and Parma held initial interest in July, but Stuttgart now appear to be the most advanced among his suitors.
Unsurprisingly, the Gunners have been demanding a hefty fee for Vieira as they look to recoup some of the €35m they spent to bring him to north London ahead of the 2022/23 season. However, they have found that difficult to come by considering his subpar expectations while an Arsenal player.
Mikel Arteta's side have significantly reduced their asking price during negotiations with Stuttgart with around £17m now being discussed as part of the buy clause in the potential loan move.
For a player who really hasn't offered much or justified the money that was spent on him, that's not a bad return to be making. It will be frustrating for the Gunners to have to bite the bullet and lose money on Vieira, but shipping him off on an initial loan will at least clear him from the squad.
Of course, the ideal scenario would have been for Arsenal to have sanctioned a sale this summer in order to receive a funds for another big-money move now. However, the likelihood is that if Vieira does leave for Stuttgart, it will initially be on a loan move, meaning the Gunners will have to wait for their money, if the clause is activated that is.
The important thing for Arsenal is clearing the deadwood from their squad. Vieira's absence from the United game showed that is not part of Arteta's plans and it is far better for the club to move him on in any capacity this summer rather than keeping him at the club without any playing time.
