Arsenal continue to fight on four fronts, but how many trophies will they manage to collect? Last Tuesday, on one of the best nights the Emirates has ever witnessed, Mikel Arteta's team booked their place in the Carabao Cup Final. After a nervy 90+ minutes, Kai Havertz's injury-time goal, on target against his former club, sparked jubilant scenes of celebration.

So, the Gunners will now face Manchester City in the EFL Cup Final at Wembley on Sunday, 22 March. Victory would see Arsenal land major silverware for the first time in six years, as well as a massive, if intangible, psychological advantage in the hotly-contested Premier League title race between the pair.

However, ahead of this date at the national stadium, a concerning statistic has emerged, especially for those of a superstitious disposition.

Arsenal could make history at Wembley vs Manchester City

In their history, Arsenal have won 49 major trophies, behind only Manchester United (68) and Liverpool (70) in terms of English clubs. However, as outlined below, an EFL Cup triumph would be a first.

As documented, since World War II, Arsenal have not won a major trophy in any year ending in six. Before then, George Allison's side did defeat Sheffield United 1-0 in the 1936 FA Cup Final, but there has been nothing since.

In subsequent years ending in six, the Gunners finished as Premier League runners-up to Leicester in 2016, while also suffering defeat in the club's one and only Champions League Final against Barcelona at the Stade de France two decades ago. On the flip side, Man City won the League Cup in 2016. as well as the FA Cup in 1956 and 1966.

Does this have any baring on this year's EFL Cup Final. Well, obviously not, but it is a fact to make particularly nervous Gooners even more tetchy as the big day approaches.
