Viktor Gyökeres appears to finally hitting the form Arsenal needed him to be in and the missing piece to his game has turned out to be the last player anyone would have expected.
Since making his return from injury, Kai Havertz seems to have reignited the spark in the Swede's goalscoring ability, with both being crucial assets to the Gunners' return to form over the recent weeks.
Their linkup in their side's 3-0 victory over Sunderland was their latest combination that made it really seem like Havertz's return has been key to Gyökeres becoming one of 2026's most in-form strikers.

When Havertz was closing in on a return from a long-term injury that had kept him out since the season opening win at Manchester United, many felt he would come in to replace a struggling Gyökeres, who had been suffering with inconsistent form in front of goal since joining from Sporting last summer.
However, after some substitute appearances and plenty of time completing his recovery, the German made his first start in almost a year in a dead rubber Champions League clash against Kairat Almaty. Rather than starting the game up front in his Swedish counterpart's place, he lined up alongside him, playing just behind him in a creative midfield position.
Playing a weaker opponent, that was a game in which Gyökeres needed to capitalise on the chance to get back on the scoresheet and he did just that with the help of Havertz. He was played through by his teammate after just two minutes before firing in the opening goal.
He then played a part in the second goal when he outmuscled a defender to open up space for Havertz to bring down a long ball by Ben White and cut inside before converting a well-taken strike. The Sweden international linked up with once again as he flicked on a low cross by the German for Gabriel Martinelli to score the third.
The duo continued to start alongside one another, both putting in good performances in a 4-0 win away to Leeds before combining again in a 3-0 victory over Sunderland.
Just minutes after Gyökeres had come off the bench, Havertz found him in space in the Black Cats' box, allowing him to set himself before firing a good effort past Robin Roefs. The German was taken off shortly after the goal, preventing him from linking up with his fellow attacker further.
With Martin Ødegaard absent through injury and not performing brilliantly when fit, there will continue to be chances for Havertz to start in a creative midfield role while Gyökeres leads the line. The Swede is finally hitting good form and the German has been key to that. Fans will only be hoping this great linkup can continue.
