Well that was never doubt, right? On Sunday, Arsenal cleared their toughest remaining hurdle by, just about, beating West Ham 1-0 at the London Stadium. After 84 minutes that were paradoxically both eventful and uneventful, Leandro Trossard's shot deflected in via Tomáš Souček, sparking wild scenes of celebration. However, right at the death, Callum Wilson had seemingly pinched a priceless point for the Irons, only for referee Chris Kavanagh, following a wait that felt like an eternity, to utter the immortal words "after review".
When all was said and done, this was Arsenal's seventh Premier League victory this season by the exact scoreline of 1-0.

As noted by Opta, 1-0 to The Arsenal is the most common exact scoreline in the Premier League this season, second only to 3-0 to Manchester City. Well, the Sky Blues collected their eight victory by that scoreline on Saturday, swatting aside Brentford, moving one ahead in that regard.
However, Pep Guardiola's team have not had enough 1-0s, enjoying three so far, picking up narrow away wins at Brentford, Leeds and most-recently Burnley. Nevertheless, the Citizens have also endured 1-1 draws with Brighton, Chelsea, West Ham and Arsenal themselves, often conceding late equalisers. Thus, had the serial champions been able to turn even one of those into victories, Arsenal would not be on the cusp of history.
Across all competitions, Sunday took Arsenal's tally to ten 1-0 wins this season. Mikel Arteta's team overcame Chelsea in the second leg of their EFL Cup semi-final, as well as enjoying Champions League victories over Sporting CP and Atlético Madrid during the knockout phase.
The latter booked the Gunners place in Budapest, set to take on defending European champions Paris Saint-Germain at the Puskás Aréna on 30 May. To date, 21 of 70 Champions League Finals have ended 1-0, including all four between 2020 and 2023.
Nottingham Forest, Aston Villa, Hamburg, Juventus, Barcelona, Olympique de Marseille and Manchester City all got their hands on a first-ever European Cup following 1-0 victories, a trend Arsenal will be hoping to replicate in Budapest. Before then, there is a Premier League title to be won, with supporters hoping it'll be a bit less stressful against Burnley and Crystal Palace, albeit a trio of 1-0 wins to come this May would do just fine.
