Noni Madueke could end up being key to Arsenal's attempts to win a trophy this season after an interesting statistic arose.

The winger has a potential run of games ahead of him after Bukayo Saka suffered an injury in the warm-up ahead of the win at Leeds and he will be hoping to help his side extend their advantage at the top of the Premier League table.

Despite spending much of the season as a back-up option on the wing, it now looks like he could be a crucial asset to the Gunners' bid for success this campaign with one his best traits feeding directly into one of their favoured routes to goal.

Why Noni Madueke could be key to Arsenal winning a trophy

Madueke is currently ranked first in the Premier League for corners won per 90 minutes, winning an average of 3.36 each game. As pretty much every single football fan can tell you, that won't go unnoticed by Mikel Arteta.

Set pieces, primarily corners, have been a key part to Arsenal's game in recent seasons, with 17 of their 46 goals this campaign coming from dead ball situations (including three penalties).

While some have criticised this game plan, there is no denying that scoring through corners is very clearly working for the Gunners and having Madueke on the right side is only going to further that.

Not only is his ability to win corners crucial, his deliveries have also been important. He ranks fifth in the league for accurate corners sent into the 18-yard box, averaging 0.98 per 90 minutes. One of his latest crosses resulted in him scoring his first Premier League goal for the North London outfit, beating Karl Darlow with a troubling delivery at his near post.

He is in line to start against his former side Chelsea in this evening's Carabao Cup semi-final clash with Chelsea this season and he will be looking to cause problems for his ex-employers with his ability to win corners.

That proved to be a way through for Arsenal in the first leg as their opener came when Ben White headed in from a Declan Rice delivery after just seven minutes.

Whether his biggest impact comes in tonight's cup clash, the remainder of the Premier League season, the Champions League or FA Cup, there is no denying that Madueke is key to one of the Gunners' best attributes and as a result, he could be crucial to them finally ending their wait for silverware.
