Arsenal stormed to a 3-0 win over Lille after initially being presented with a tough test by the stubborn Ligue 1 side in the Champions League.
The Gunners bounced back from a lacklustre hour when Jurrien Timber fired them in front after a nice link-up with Noni Madueke before Eberechi Eze and Bukayo Saka both got in on the act with well-taken goals in quick succession.
Lille did well to keep Mikel Arteta's side at bay for much of the game until the hosts' seven-minute barrage decided the scoreline and while Arsenal didn't really set the match alight until then, there were three players that stood out in the win.
Three standout players from Arsenal's hard-fought win over Lille
Jurrien Timber
Returning to the starting XI at right back, Jurrien Timber was one of the most influential players for Arsenal on what almost proved to be a frustrating night at the Emirates Stadium.
He made some good runs down the right side to link up with and support Madueke, and that nearly paid off when he squared for Bruno Guimarães after a swift move, but the Brazilian missed his chance from a good position.
Timber continued to fight though and was the one to find the breakthrough for the Gunners after 64 minutes when he collected a pass from Madueke with a brilliant touch to set himself and lob Berke Özer from a tight angle.
It was a real standout showing from the Dutchman that rightly earned him the Champions League player of the match award.
Bukayo Saka
Arsenal fans had been crying for Bukayo Saka to have some deadly output and he finally answered the calls as he came off the bench to help his side seal victory over Lille.
Just minutes after being introduced to the game, the winger made a darting run to provide a cross for Eze to meet and convert past Özer from the edge of the box. He then found the back of the net himself when he received Kai Havertz's cutback to take a touch and calmly place an effort in the bottom far corner.
Saka's performance was the kind that the Gunners have desperately needed from him and supporters will be hoping it has set a precedent for the coming weeks and the rest of the season.
Declan Rice
Another Arsenal game, another top performance. Declan Rice led the Gunners out as captain against Lille and he did so by example with another display of class in red and white.
The midfielder played some good passes, both short and long range, and boasted an accuracy of 94% as he completely ran the middle of the park. He didn't let that stop him from helping out the back either as he won all of his duels and made crucial tackles to keep the clean sheet intact.
A potential audition to be Arsenal's future captain, Rice's showing was exemplary and showed why he is one of the best midfielders in Europe.
