For any #9 at Arsenal, the job involves creating chances as much as taking them and Arteta will seek a forward who can link up with the rest of the team.

That sounds like requirement that Gyokeres does not naturally meet. Even if he is quick, nimble and light-footed for a man of his height, the Swede is not adept at receiving the ball with his back to goal or bringing others into play; his career has flourished at Sporting CP, in part, due to their transitional approach.

Parallels can be drawn to Sesko as he also performs in a transition-based team and offers most threat when exploiting space in behind. However, the Leipzig man loves to drop deep and can excel in tight areas too via elegant footwork, a skill that could help him shine against a low-block Premier League defence.

Like other aspects of his game, Sesko still has work to do in this regard, but he can grow into the role whereas Gyokeres is perhaps the finished article. In fairness, the latter might well thrive at this task too given his quick feet, but can he do it better than a similarly priced transfer rival?
