Viktor Gyökeres scored two goals in Arsenal's sensational 4-0 Champions League win over Atlético Madrid on Tuesday evening to silence his critics.
The Sweden international had failed to find the back of the net in his last seven appearances for the Gunners in all competitions and that saw him draw plenty of criticism from both his own supporters, rivals and the media.
However, he has now ended that drought and has silenced those critics in one of the best ways possible, proving he is capable of leading the line for Arsenal. He just now has to build on that as his side return to Premier League action.

Having scored three in his first four games for Arsenal following his summer move from Sporting CP, Gyökeres hit a serious dry spell in front of goal, not netting in the next seven games.
He went close to scoring a number of times throughout that period, but was constantly thwarted by a mix of good defending, goalkeeping and poor finishing. Despite his lack of goals, he impressed off the ball, often battling well with defenders and making the runs a striker should be.
Regardless of his bright moments, the Sweden international still drew plenty of criticism from most in the footballing world, but he has now proved those critics and doubters wrong.
His quickfire double in the win over Atlético showed that he is very capable of being the goalscoring poacher the Gunners need in front of goal. He has proven that he can be the finisher in the box while also being involved in plenty of other aspects of play.
While it was great to see Gyökeres break his duck, he can't dwell on this and now has to build on it. His brace against Atleti should provide him with the confidence he needs to go on and unleash the deadly goalscorer that was on display during his time at Sporting.
Of course, it has to be considered that the Swede has made a huge step up from Portuguese football to the English top flight and he will still need some more time to adjust, but he has already scored three in the Premier League so there's nothing to say he can't continue doing that.
After most doubted his ability to score goals at the highest level, Gyökeres has proven those who questioned him wrong, but he now has to build on that. There is no way he can dwell on that brace against Atlético. He has to view it as a brilliant chance to build his confidence and go on to be a deadly finisher once again.
