Arsenal need attacking reinforcements in the summer, but where does the club start?
Arsenal's 2024/25 season can easily be defined by one word - injuries.
Having seen the likes of Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli, Kai Havertz, and Gabriel Jesus all out for an extended period of time, all at once, it left bare bones for Mikel Arteta to work with, and Arsenal's Premier League title challenge suffered as a result.
With the need for a striker glaring, the Gunners will be looking to wrap up a deal for their intended target as soon as possible as the last thing the club wants is for it to drag out and get close to the new league season with no stud leading the line.
But then we look to the wide areas.
With Saka and Martinelli injured, that left Leandro Trossard and Ethan Nwaneri to pick up the slack. While both showed at times their value, particularly Ethan, Arsenal struggled to create many clear-cut chances, and the ones they did, due to no proper striker (sorry, Mr. Merino), were wasted.
Could Arsenal look to reinforce the wide areas this summer?
For many, this is the other clear need for the squad, and that has led most to put their support behind a move for Nico Williams, who has all the traits that Mikel Arteta wants in his wide players.
But he will cost a decent amount, so could the Gunners also look at a cost-effective option?
They certainly could, so we offer up Bayern Munich winger Kingsley Coman.
Adding some more veterans and one that has the winnnig mentality Arteta craves, plus he's set ot be afree agent and seen as gettable.
Having played just 11 times in the league this season for the German giants, Coman, who per GOAL.com, has contributed six goals and four assists, could be a shrewd piece of business for Arsenal while also offering some nice depth.
So, yes, a star like Williams should be on the wish list, but maybe Coman too as Raheem Sterling likely won't be back next season. Nwaneri could step up into a bigger role for Arteta as he has set the world on fire in his appearances this season, so that is potentially another avenue to go down.
But either way, striker and a winger are likely high on Arteta's wish list and in Coman, a veteran who is a cost-effective option and perhaps with something to prove, might be worth considering.
