Arsenal have clear needs this summer, but where should the club start?
As Arsenal looks ahead to the final portion of the league season and the Champions League quarter final against Real Madrid, we might look ahead to the summer.
In what is increasingly becoming one of the most important for Mikel Arteta and now new sporting director Andrea Berta, the Gunners have to get key players in the door to help strengthen the squad.
With striker a clear and obvious need, so too is a backup winger for Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli, with Arteta having to get creative this season due to the sheer number of injuries to attacking players.
Granted, the need for a striker at least has been well known for at least 18 months, and now, the club simply has to get a deal over the line for a player of quality. Also, another winger to provide depth and competition is needed as well.
Plus, we could add in another midfielder to the mix and suddenly, Arteta's shopping list is starting to take shape.
But we offer this question - where should Arsenal start?
Striker or winger first up for Arsenal?
Given the urgent need for the Gunners to get a top-quality striker through the doors, that would be job No. 1 for Berta, and he is already zeroing in on Sporting's Vikor Gyokeres as his choice.
Alexander Isak looms as the biggest target, but the feel would be monstrous, and Newcastle would play hardball in negotiations, and the Gunners don't want a long, drawn-out saga.
But what about a winger? Say, Matheus Cunha? Having been on the Gunners radar for the past 12 months, the Wolves star might be ready to take the leap to north London.
Why? Per the Guardian, Cunha wants to "fight for titles," and given where we are in Arteta's Arsenal project, that is exactly where the Gunners are.
Of course, any move won't be cheap with a reported £62 million ($80m) per GOAL.com, likely seeing the Gunners be interested in his services.
So there are plenty of options for Arteta and the club to go, and in truth, both are pressing needs, but which way should the club go?
Striker is the clear choice, and if Cunha is looking at a move to compete for titles, perhaps that as well. Either way, business must be done and for fans, it doesn't matter the order, as long as it gets done.
