Why a draw vs Chelsea is not as bad for Arsenal as fans might think

Arsenal were not able to keep their winning streak against big teams going as they drew with 10-man Chelsea 1-1 at Stamford Bridge.

Obviously, Arsenal fans are and will be a bit frustrated with the result. The players will be as well. And rightfully so. But, when it has been a few days, and the nerves calm down a little, people will start realising that this was actually a better result for Arsenal than it was for Chelsea. Or at least it was equally beneficial for both teams.

Arsenal's streak of being unbeaten in big games still stands. Their last loss in a big game - or their last loss in general - was against Liverpool in August. Not losing a single big game in three straight months is a huge, huge positive for this side.

Seven points in the last three games is a brilliant result for Arsenal

The draw against Chelsea may not have been what Arsenal fans wanted. That part is obvious, but it is also worth noting that it is not the end of the world. There are many, many teams who would take a draw with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge without any questions asked.

Of course, Arsenal are not most teams - and they really need every point they can take if they want to win the league this season, but a draw against the second or third best team in the league away from home is not bad.

It gets even better after you look at the schedule. Arsenal have played three huge games consecutively. They first played Tottenham at home, which in itself is a huge game, irrespective of results and form.

They also played Bayern Munich just three days ago. And beat them. Deservingly. These things have to be considered when you think about what this group wanted to achieve in just this week, and what they have done.

Seven points in three big games is an exceptional record, and while it is not the best, this one point is going to prove to be more valuable than three at another stadium.

I also understand that the context is also important. Arsenal had the advantage. The upper hand. And still, they faltered. They had one extra player on the pitch, and it seemed like they were the team playing with 10 men.

However, even then, things are not as bad as people think, and time will tell that this result is going to be huge for Arsenal in the title race.
