Why Arsenal have no reason not to ask Real Madrid about this summer deal

Owen Hargreaves believes that Arsenal should at least try for Nico Paz in the summer transfer window.

Nico Paz is one of the most sought-after players in the world at the moment. He is scoring and assisting at a really high rate for Kerman this season as they are fighting for the Champions League spots in Serie A.

It's believed that Nico Paz will return to Real Madrid in the summer. However, Owen Hargreaves believes that Arsenal should at least try to sign him. The worst they could say is no.

Arsenal urged to challenge Real Madrid over summer deal

He said: “There’s a young lad at Como, Nico Paz. There’s an option for him to go back to Real Madrid but if I’m Arsenal… This kid, you’ll see him at the World Cup. Mikel Arteta will already know that this boy will be a star and if you don’t ask you don’t get. A player like that could suit Arsenal.”

Paz will definitely help Arsenal get more out of their attack. He is one of the most exciting players in his position at the moment. The way he dribbles past players and sets up his teammates when there is little to no space to offer is commendable.

Paz is one of the top assisters in Serie A, as well as one of the top scorers in the league, and he will no doubt be a brilliant addition to the Arsenal side if he joins.

However, that is a very, very big if.

Paz can go back to Real Madrid for just €9 million in the summer. They have a buy-back clause, and they have 50% of the player's rights.

So, Arsenal, if they do want to sign Nico Paz in the summer, will have to go to Real Madrid and discuss a much bigger transfer fee than the €9 million that Real Madrid will probably pay for him in the summer.

It is not confirmed by any party, but widely reported by the likes of Fabrizio Romano, that a return is something that will happen as it stands.

And if Arsenal do want to sign him, they will be looking at the market value of the Argentinian midfielder, which is a lot more than the buy-back clause that Real Madrid have.

It is also not clear if Real Madrid would even be willing to consider selling Paz in the summer, because after such a brilliant season that Paz has had, they might actually want him to stick around and help the team next season.

However, Hargreaves' point is really solid. If you don't ask, you'll never know, and that's what Arsenal can do.

They could try and sign one of the players who will help link the midfield with the attack in the best possible way, and the worst Real Madrid can say to them is no.
