Arsenal is in desperate need of a striker in the summer, and the club will face stiff competition to get a quality forward through the doors.

One of Mikel Arteta's top priorities this summer is to finally get a forward through the doors for Arsenal and no we aren't talking about a so-so player; we are talking one of quality.

Of course, that is easier said than done with the club sitting on its hands for the past two transfer windows with the Gunners in dire straits after the injuries to Gabriel Jesus, Kai Havertz, Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka left Arteta with a bare-bones crew in attack.

There are several options that Arsenal can look at this summer and all will require the club to loosen the purse strings if they are to secure their services.

Arsenal need to pull out the stops this summer

Sporting's Viktor Gyokeres has been one name the Gunners continue to be linked with over the past 18 months and if there ever was a time to move, it is now with the player and club reportedly agreeing to lower his release clause per the Daily Mail's Amie Wilson.

So that is a positive if the club are looking to Gyokeres to be the guy the Gunners choose.

But per Football Insiders, Manchester United could spoil Arsenal's party with the relationship the striker already has with Ruben Amorim thought to be what could be a deciding factor in who the striker lands with.

So if Arsenal does want Viktor, then it will likely have to compete with United and Amorim's relationship with the striker, and we aren't sure that any amount of money can truly compete with that.

Then we have Alexander Isak.

For most, Isak is "the" choice for the Gunners this summer, but like Gyokeres, will face competition with Newcastle in the advantageous position, as things stand right now, to offer Champions League football to the striker.

Plus, the Magpies don't appear to be willing to sell one of the best strikers in the Premier League to a team that they could see as a direct rival next season.

That means the Gunners might have to offer a king's ransom just to turn Newcastle's head, and that clearly isn't a game Arsenal wants to be playing.

So, yes, Arsenal had a dire need for a striker, but luring a star to the Emirates might not be as straightforward as some think.
