Arsenal managed a 1-0 win over Wolves thanks to Riccardo Calafiori's second-half strike, but as seems to be the case lately, a refereeing decision is the headline.

Mikel Arteta's Arsenal side managed to overcome a poor refereeing decision to claim a vital 1-0 win on the road over Wolves.

Myles Lewis-Skelly was somehow shown a red card right before halftime as the Gunners were reduced to 10 men in a decision that warranted a yellow and nothing more.

With the Gunners then up against it, Arteta's side gave as good as they got. When Wolves went down to 10 men with 20 minutes remaining after Joao Gomes was given his marching orders, just four minutes later, Arsenal broke the deadline.

Riccardo Calafiori's shot managed to find its way into the net to give the visitors the lead, and one that they held on to.

The headlines could have been far different had Arsenal lost or drawn this contest, but getting the win will no doubt feed Arteta's side for weeks to come.

Here are three takeaways from the 1-0 win over Wolves.

Lewis Skelly's red card a hot topic

We aren't sure where to start here.

Was it a foul? Yes. Was it a red card? Absolutely not and we aren't going to pile on Michael Oliver, but this is the exact reason why VAR was brought in, to overturn decisions like this.

Plus, Gomes' second yellow, one could argue was as "bad" as Lewis-Skelly's and yet Oliver only showed him a yellow.

All we want is consistency, and for some reason we are getting anything but. VAR is there to be used properly and we are years into having this "technology" and yet things like this keep popping up.

Luckly this time, Arsenal was able to overcome it.
