Former Arsenal gem Samir Nasri has yet again proven that he can’t get over his Emirates departure. But again he is horribly wrong.

Arsenal had a lot of talented young men sold off in the debt days and Samir Nasri was one of them. Whoever you want to blame is fine, the fact of the matter is it was a bad situation for just about everyone. But that should have been it. Move on, get over it.

Samir Nasri just can’t get over it. As he never plays anymore, the best thing he can do is mouth off to the media. He has to get headlines to show off those frosted tips somehow (I actually don’t think he has frosted tips anymore. Damn).

And this time, he has shown more than ever that, not only does he never play, but he also doesn’t know what he is talking about.

My co-editor Andy has dug into this a bit, disproving the “Wenger doesn’t spend enough” argument. He keenly pointed out that Wenger spent £100m this summer. That is a big chunk of change that ranks right up there with everyone else Nasri claims the Gunner’s can’t compete with.

But it goes beyond just what the Gunners won’t spend. It goes into recent history. Look at last year for instance. Leicester City, those heavy spending Foxes, won the entire thing, beating out cash dispensers like Manchester City, Manchester United and everyone else. And right behind them was Arsenal, who had only spent £10m that summer.

More from Pain in the Arsenal

Do you want further proof, Nasri? Look at Manchester United in general. This club pretty much buys an entirely new, star-studded starting XI every year and they can’t finish above sixth. This year they are spending China-like sums on keeping an all-star team on the books and, surprise, they are sixth yet again.

It’s not always about the money. We should know this more than any other club. It’s about being practical. While teams like Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and  Barcelona can load up on the superstars and keep winning in toned-down leagues, it isn’t that easy in England.

But Samir Nasri wouldn’t know that, because he doesn’t play in England.

I feel stupid now because I used to think there was a chance of redemption for the Frenchman. I don’t think so anymore. This isn’t the first time he has mouthed off and said something daft either. Last time it was accusing the Emirates of not being as passionate as the Etihad.

That’s right, the half-full Etihad isn’t as passionate as the Emirates. Right.
