The Champions League draw is made tomorrow evening, so Arsenal will learn which teams they will face, at least in the League Phase.
Last season, the Gunners won most of their games in the League Phase, and finished third. This set them up nicely for automatic qualification to the Knockout Phase.
Lo and behold, the Gunners exited the competition in the semifinals. They were eliminated by the eventual champions Paris Saint-Germain, by slim margins across both legs.
Arsenal has never won the competition, and it's an objective of Mikel Arteta's to cement his place in the Arsenal history books.
It all begins tomorrow, when Arsenal learns their League Phase opponents.
As it stands, most teams have been secured for the UCL League Phase. The other teams will be decided today (Wednesday), via a qualifying round, ahead of the draw tomorrow evening.
The teams who are yet to decide their fate include: Rangers, Club Brugge, Ferencvaros, Qarabag, Basel, Copenhagen, Fenerbahce, Benfica.
But, who could Arsenal face?
The 19 teams Arsenal could face in the Champions League currently
Well, let's start by eliminating teams. Firstly, due to Champions League ruling, Arsenal cannot face any team from England. This means they will not face Liverpool, Man City, Chelsea, Newcastle or Tottenham in the League Phase.
Secondly, Arsenal cannot face any other team from their pot, Pot 2. As it stands, the Gunners cannot face Bayer Leverkusen, Atletico Madrid, Atalanta, Villarreal, Juventus and Eintracht Frankfurt. Other teams inside of this pot are yet to be confirmed by UEFA.
Excluding these teams, and not including any team yet to qualify, there appears to be 19 teams Arsenal can face in the League phase. Those teams are as follows:
Paris Saint-Germain. Arsenal can face last season's champions in the League Phase.
Real Madrid. Last time out, Arsenal eliminated Real Madrid, the most successful team in the competition's history. This season, they could face each other in the League Phase.
Bayern Munich. One of Arsenal's oldest friends (or foes) in this competition. They're also fearlessly led by Harry Kane, the world's most famous Arsenal fan.
Borussia Dortmund. Fellow Bundesliga side Dortmund is also available for Arsenal.
Inter Milan. Last season's runners up are in Pot 1, so Arsenal could face them in the League.
Barcelona. Arsenal and Barcelona have history in this competition, they were the competitors the only time Arsenal reached the final. We won't remind you of the scoreline there.
PSV. Eredivisie giants have started the season routinely, with three wins on the bounce in the Netherlands.
Ajax. Not quite the perfect start for Ajax in the Eredivisie, but they're still unbeaten with one draw and two wins.
Napoli. Antonio Conte's side got off to winning ways in their first Serie A game back, winning by a comfortable 2-0 scoreline.
Sporting CP. Viktor Gyokeres might face his former side quicker than he would've anticipated.
Olympiacos. Yep, Evangelos Marinakis' side. From Arsenal's perspective, the less said about him, the better.
Slavia Prague. We'll take any excuse to bring up Tomáš Rosický. This is shamelessly one of them. The Little Mozart would be cheering on Arsenal as a fierce Sparta fan.
Marseille. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang would want to get the last laugh over Mikel Arteta here.
Bodø/Glimt. Any Arsenal fans fancy that trip to North of the Arctic Circle again? Pack an extra coat this time.
Athletic Club. Nico Williams might not be on Arsenal's radar anymore, but he might get a taste of what could've been had he left Bilbao.
Galatasaray. Lucas Torreira is currently playing for Galatasaray, so it would be a nice opportunity for Arsenal fans to check in on how he's doing.
Union SG. While it's not a direct link, Paul-José Mpoku, who is Albert Sambi-Lokonga's older brother, came through the youth ranks at Union SG. Where there's a link, we'll scrape for it.
Pafos. Okay, the links might end here. Pafos is a much younger club, founded in 2014, but it would be a nice opportunity for Arsenal to face a team they've never faced before.
Kairat Almaty. This team beat Celtic, of all teams, to reach the Champions League this year. They're SERIOUS.
