ARSENAL DRAWS MILAN IN CHAMPIONS’ LEAGUE

The UEFA Champions’ League draw was held today and while Manchester United, Manchester €ity and Tottentham Hotsp*r were all watching on television, Arsenal was drawn with Italian giants, AC Milan.

Milan are the reigning Serie A champions and are led by the likez Zlatan Ibrahimovic, former Man €ity striker, Robinho, Liverpool castoff, Alberto Aquilani, & long-serving midfielder, Clarence Seedorf, who is like 64 years old these days, amongst others.  Like any big European club there’s plenty of quality players throughout the side.

Milan emerged from Group H that included reigning European kings, Barcelona, Czech side, Viktoria Plzen, and Belarussian side, BATE Borisov.

Wenger is quoted as being “excited” for the matchup:

"It is a difficult draw but an exciting one. And they could say exactly the same thing I suppose. It is a 50:50. So let’s make sure we continue to improve until February. Then we can take our chance with full power and belief."

We faced Milan back in 2008 and dispatched them 2-0 on aggregate at the same stage of the competition and on this Wenger says:

"Yes, we have good memories at San Siro. As I say it is an interesting draw. Ideally, it is a draw for one round later but you take them when they happen. There is not much more to say really – everybody knows Milan, everybody knows Arsenal. We have been in the Champions League for many years and both sides play positive football."

So, here’s to hoping recent history repeats itself.  But there’s other fish to fry in the interim, beginning in the league with the aforementioned Man €ity on Sunday.
