Arsenal Transfer Rumors: Antonio Rudiger Snubs Chelsea

facebooktwitterreddit

Antonio Rudiger may not be the most well-known German defender, but what he may be is the heir apparent in a line of world class defensemen that includes Mats Hummels and Per Mertesacker.

At just 21-years of age, he’s already making quite the name for himself, and his Bundesliga club, Stuttgart, has admitted that their is no way they can keep hold of a player of his quality.

In steps the Premier League, the number one destination for footballers worldwide, particularly Chelsea, who could buy the entire league if you gave them the chance.

But it’s not Chelsea that appeals most to Rudiger – it’s Arsenal (how good does that feel?).

He is quoted in the Express saying, “I have always dreamed of the Premier League… I have been following Arsenal since the days of Henry and Bergkamp. I watch videos of Arsenal all the time on YouTube and I often wear the current Alexis Sanchez shirt.”

He then added, “My heart beats for Arsenal.”

More from Arsenal Transfer Rumours

As a defender who’s only 21, on the rise, relatively cheap (7 million pounds), would be stolen from Chelsea, is a physical presence (the list goes on), the move seems a sure fire bet. But something about how much he loves Arsenal gives me a bit of hesitation that it will happen.

I’ll refer to two “done” transfers that centered around young players who loved Arsenal and wanted to come to the Emirates – Michy Batshuayi and Serge Aurier.

Both loved Arsenal, were fans and were, and still are, on the rise, yet Arsenal made very little attempt to nab them (as far as we know). Maybe being an Arsenal fan turns Wenger off, who knows what the Prof thinks sometimes.

Rudiger is a talent. He meets the criteria of a typical Arsenal transfer (except for being a fan) and he fits what we need. I’d love to see this happen in January, but I have to remain conservative in my wishes. I am an Arsenal fan after all.
