Most of the Arsenal injuries woes seemed to be in the rear view mirror. Aaron Ramsey came back way ahead of schedule, as will Olivier Giroud. But then there’s Laurent Kocielny who is taking longer than expected.
And then there’s Mesut Ozil. After originally being reported as way ahead of schedule, Ozil is now experiencing a set back that will put him out of training for another seven weeks.
Ozil himself told Jamie Sanderson of the Metro:
"“I have already been out for five weeks and will be out for another seven weeks.“That is a really long time but that is the way it is in football sometimes. My head is held high and we look forward.”"
This is bad news indeed. While Mesut Ozil has been a hotly-debated player for the Gunners, no one can deny his talent and what he’s capable of. He had shown some brilliant flashes this season, especially in the 4-1 trouncing of Galatasaray, but has struggled to find any semblance of consistency.
This injury setback will put him even further behind the eight ball as far as getting his legs underneath him in the physical English Premier League.
Luckily for the Gunners, we still have Alexis Sanchez and with Theo Walcott on the return, our attack isn’t in awful shape. When Ozil returns, he will be gifted with two of the most talented wingers in European football to mesh with, and given his passing vision, it could be a sight for sore eyes.
