Alexis Sanchez Absolutely Selfless in Arsenal Team Mentality
By Josh Sippie
When you’re really good at something, it’s incredibly easy to let it go to your head. Look at Cristiano Ronaldo or David Beckham (amongst many others), they have some of the biggest egos in the world. Yes, they deserve it, but it’s still refreshing to see a really talented player not let that fame and fortune go to their head.

Enter: Alexis Sanchez.
Alexis is the undisputed star of Arsenal. However, Arsenal are not known for having a star player. They play a team game, and any time we rely too heavily on one player (Robin van Persie), it doesn’t always pan out.
The Chilean maestro has every reason to assert himself as the alpha male on the Arsenal squad, but instead, he has the perfect Gunner/Arsene Wenger mentality that this is a team, not a bunch of individuals.
Alexis has this to say to La Tercera, as reported by the Metro:
"“The star thing is relative, I do not agree [that I am]. We have a squad with many great players, world class players, World Cup winners with Germany, and some other players that play for England and France. In this group I am just another player. My start has been good, but you put the title of a story when you finish writing it, not when you start.”"
I didn’t know I could become more of a fan of Alexis Sanchez, but I have. He is the embodiment of exactly what Arsenal need and what can propel us to greatness. Now we just get to sit back and watch it happen.
