On June 6th, I gave you the Top 5 Arsenal Transfer Rumors to keep an eye on. Today, I give you the top 5 Arsenal transfer rumors to forget about. These rumors are a lot easier to filter out because they just don’t make sense for a variety of reasons.

More from Pain in the Arsenal

No matter what the pundits tell us, there are just certain things Arsenal do not need. I’ll cover more later, but you can probably guess what position I’m talking about (Hint: They can use their hands). Along with not needing the position, these rumors are also the type where the player doesn’t bring anything to the team that Arsenal don’t already have. For instance, let’s say that a slower, less clinical, older version of Theo Walcott existed. Why would we sign him?

Exactly, we wouldn’t.

Likewise, these rumors may also be negligible because of the price tag. Luckily, Edinson Cavani rumors have essentially died out, but 60 million pounds? No thank you.

The best of these rumors are a combination of all of the above factors. Players who play a position Arsenal doesn’t need, they’re grossly overpriced and they bring nothing to the team. Yet for some reason we are still heavily linked to them based on Arsenal’s “desperate need to fill a gaping hole” that doesn’t exist.

More from Arsenal News

Most of Arsenal’s needs can be filled internally. Aaron Ramsey himself said that Arsenal don’t need any big new signings to be competitive in the Premier League next season (via the Metro). As I usually do, I agree with Aaron Ramsey. Arsenal could use some depth but in the long run, if we stay healthy, we don’t need anything. Granted, that’s a big ‘if’.

But the fact is that Arsene Wenger is going to be well within his right mind not to spend huge amounts of money on things we don’t need. And since we’re on the topic, let’s get started with who we don’t need (Note: Raheem Sterling is not included because I recently covered that prospect here).
