And now for the cream of the “why is this even a real thing” crop, the number one rumor for anyone associated with Arsenal to forget about: Gonzalo Higuain.

Higuain had a chance to come to Arsenal when he left Real Madrid but he opted for the finer climates of Italy and joined Napoli. Now that that move has gone a tad sour, he again wants out so that he can try his hand at some well-deserved Champions League football.

Well, that’s just too bad, because if there is one thing that Arsenal doesn’t need, it’s him.

Consider how often Arsenal fans complain about Olivier Giroud not being consistent enough. Higuain is even less consistent. He is a fantastic striker when he’s on par, but that happens about 50% of the time. I’m not willing to deal with the frustration of wondering which Gonzalo Higuain is going to show up. Not to mention competition in the Premier League is a bit stiffer than competition in Serie A.

Consider the following stats (via Squawka on a per 90 minute basis):

I really don’t understand where the appeal is. He does everything that Giroud does, but less effectively. And if the objective really is to purchase another striker, then look no further than Karim Benzema, who would absolutely revolutionize the Arsenal attack without dispensing of Olivier Giroud.

It seems pretty self-explanatory to me.
