Karim Benzema

In a bit of shocking news, Karim Benzema has been linked to a move to Arsenal. While this is an unexpected twist in that Arsenal are rarely linked to strikers of his quality, the Telegraph has reported that sources expect a deal done today, completely out of the blue.

As a newcomer to this rumor, I am excited at the prospect. Benzema is a fantastic striker and it is amazing that Arsenal’s pursuit of him has flown under the radar this far along, all the way up to the day it is to be completed. Today.

Reports are indicating that the deal will be completed on Friday, which, let me recheck that, is indeed today. The fee is rumored to be in the 35 million pound range.

It has been said that Benzema was a Real Madrid man and even Rafa Benitez and Benzema’s agent have denied the claim that he will move, but who dares argue with reports?

Denis Cheryshev

Something about ‘pipping’ a transfer target from under a direct rival’s nose, like Liverpool, just gets me excited. Maybe it is because of the word ‘pipping’ or maybe it is because of the roguish feel it gives off.

Either way, the Telegraph has cited sources that are saying that Arsenal are prepared to sneak in during the night and place a check for 15 million pounds in Real Madrid’s mailbox with the memo “pay to the order of Denis Cheryshev and do not tell Liverpool yet, we want to do that.”

Cheryshev is not the worst option in the world, on a serious note. He plays on the wings, is only 24 years old and has never been able to break into Real Madrid’s first team. He has been loaned out ad nauseum and Wenger has a tendency to snap up players who have fallen out of favor.

Given that the Danny Welbeck experiment is hanging off a ledge, Cheryshev could provide Wenger with a fresh new toy to try to build into a superstar.

Serge Gnabry

The young German winger has been sent out on loan to West Brom in a move that is probably the best for all parties involved. BBC Sport has reported the move.

Gnabry was always going to have a tough time breaking into the first team so such a move will give him a chance to stretch out his legs at a level that is not too far removed from Arsenal football. He will be gaining experience against the same opposition that he will be facing when he finally makes it at Arsenal as well.

Serge Gnabry has already broken into the first team just a few years ago so to confine him to bench duties would spoil his impression of the team. As such, this loan will be incredibly beneficial to him and will net him some much-needed experience.
