Edinson Cavani

Just in the nick of time, Edinson Cavani has come to save the day. No transfer window would be complete without at least one or two potential links to the Uruguayan forward.

More from Pain in the Arsenal

Reports indicate that since Karim Benzema and Real Madrid refuse to play ball, Arsenal will turn their attention to another player/team combo that has never wanted to play ball – PSG and Edinson Cavani.

The 28-year old has undeniable quality, from shooting to heading to passing. He is a great striker all around and would bring fantastic quality to the Arsenal front lines. Cavani acored 18 goals in 35 appearances in Ligue 1, a pretty solid return for a guy that was playing from the shadows of the Swedish Behemoth.

However, despite what the Telegraph is reporting, there is one major hang up in this whole ordeal and it is not the 40 million pound valuation.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has long been the rumored reason for Cavani’s want to get away. However, with Ibra set to move on next summer, that means that Edinson Cavani just has another year to play in the shadow before he can step out and be the main man. If he has stuck with it this long, why bail now?

Gonzalo Higuain

Arsenal have been cleared to sign Gonzalo Higuain for the sixteenth time this summer, according to the Metro. Why exactly Arsenal would go for it on the sixteenth attempt and not on the second or third is beyond me, but at least we know the option is still here.

The Gunners were absolutely stifled against West Ham and the only feasible thing that Higuain could have done is frustrate us more. Because the only thing more frustrating than a team banging their head against a wall is paying fifty million pounds for another guy to bang his head against the same wall.

Denis Cheryshev

The 24-year old Russian would finally give the Gunners a true left winger to spread the width of the pitch and if the reports from the Metro are to be believed, he is ready to bounce out of Real Madrid as soon as possible.

After several loan spells and zero appearances for the first-team, it only makes sense that he would want out. However, Real Madrid are said to be holding out for a fee over 15 million pounds. If that is the case, then Arsenal would be wise to meet it. They have done very little business this transfer window and a little added depth on the wings could have been all we needed to crack West Ham open.

Lucas Silva

More from Arsenal Transfer Rumours

Arsenal like window shopping at the Real Madrid super mall. 22-year old Lucas Silva is another one of their showcases.

The youngster has made only 9 appearances for Los Blancos and is reluctant to hit the loan circuit again. As the Guardian reports, that may signal his end. After all, if Isco cannot get a crack on the pitch, what hope does Lucas Silva have? Playing with Real Madrid may be a dream but they usually purchase enough to fill a team and look at their youth products later.

Silva could be an excellent project for Arsene Wenger to pick up.
