Ibrahimovic, Cavani and the Latest Arsenal Transfer Rumors

Zlatan Ibrahimovic

There is not a team in the world that would decline Ibrahimovic’s services and as such, he has his choice. Obviously coming to Arsenal would be a dream for Gooner’s, and after reportedly being told that he is free to leave PSG, everyone is on alert (via the Daily Mail).

At 33 years of age and with the MLS looming in his future, Ibra would probably only look to give a year or two to wherever he goes next, but at 33 years of age and with the Gunner’s young crop of strikers, that could be perfect. Arsenal do not need a long term solution, with Chuba Akpom, Theo Walcott and Danny Welbeck still at or nearing their prime, they just need someone to team up with Olivier Giroud for the next campaign or two.

Edinson Cavani

Did the sun rise today? Then Edinson Cavani is still linked to Arsenal. The Uruguayan has been linked to Arsenal for so long that he almost already feels like part of the team, but a move for the striker is even more unlikely than a move for Ibra.

Cavani just has to wait out Ibra’s departure before he can become the center man for PSG, which is what he has wanted all along.

The 28-year old would undoubtedly bolster Arsenal’s attacking options but at the cost he is projected to command, the logistics just seems a little off.

Gedion Zelalem

After Wellington Silva secured a crucial loan move to Bolton, Zelalem is now nearing a loan move to Scottish outfit Rangers.

Any sort of first team football would be brilliant for Zelalem, who may have gobs of potential but who is still a few years from competing with the Arsenal first team. Get him a little first team action with a quality side and his development will drastically step up the pace.

Ezequiel Lavezzi

Lavezzi is reportedly out of favor at PSG and as such, has been offered to Arsenal along with West Ham and Tottenham. The 30 year old attacker has the versatility to play CAM or on the flanks and could provide excellent cover for the Gunners.

With Alexis and the Ox being the only true wingers, and you could argue that even they are not true wingers, the Gunners could use some added depth to guard against injuries.

Marco Verratti

The same report linking Lavezzi to the Gunners linked Verratti as well. In a bit of salivating news, the Italian star indicated that he would be open to playing in England, although he is happy right now.

I have backed Verratti to be a huge hit at Arsenal given his premium passing ability and tenacity in the wake of his smaller stature.

Either way, a move this summer for Verratti does not seem likely, but that does not rule one out for the future.
