Arsenal vs Liverpool Preview: The Measuring Stick
By Brian Wong
Last week we were treated to an amazing performance by Manchester City in their impressive victory over Chelsea. The game of the week this time will be played Monday when Liverpool head on over to North London to take on the Gunners.

I have got to say that I am super excited for this game, as it is a great chance to measure Arsenal’s early season form against something. After the first two games of the season, Arsenal look a bit shaky at the back and don’t look like the powerhouse we thought they would be. Yet one cannot help but stop to think, if Arsenal made good use of all those opportunities in front of goal would we be heading into this game with a different mindset?
Prediction: Arsenal 3-2 Liverpool
1) Arsenal will CAPITALIZE but so will Liverpool
After seeing all the the missed opportunities by everyone on the squad I can’t help but beg for Arsenal to finally score some goals. Even when you watch the highlights of the first 2 games of the season, all you see are amazing buildups followed by spectacular misses. Arsenal’s first goal of the season was a true beauty but to be honest, it should have happened much earlier and should have been a much simpler shot.
The offense can’t seem to buy a shot on target most of the time, and the defense can’t seem to hold a lead. That is why, although I think Arsenal will finally score some goals, it is entirely likely Liverpool are going to try and match Arsenal’s goal tally. Per Mertesaker is right when he says there are still some things the defense need to iron out with Cech. However, this does not seem to be the game Arsenal are going to figure anything out on defense.
2) Ramsey out, Chamberlain in
Wenger quickly learned that Cazorla belongs in the middle of the field, nowhere else. So then where does Ramsey go?
If you ask me, I will say he belongs elsewhere on the pitch. However, Chamberlain also deserves a chance to play. Against Liverpool, I think for Arsenal to be successful, they need to be able to stretch the opposition and Ramsey will not be able to do that down the right side.
Chamberlain could though, and that is why he belongs on the pitch before Ramsey this week. I agree with all those that say Ramsey is too talented to be left out of this side, but his early season form isn’t deserving of a spot, Chamberlain’s is.
3) Liverpool have something planned

Liverpool are said to have something planned to slow down Arsenal. I doubt it will work though. Unless their plan is to injure most of Arsenal’s midfield players, there is just too much talent, creativity and understanding between all the Arsenal players to slow them down.
Liverpool are not like Chelsea, they will not and cannot park a ship in front of their goal. Liverpool doesn’t possess the type of defense and the types of defensive midfielders to stop this Arsenal attack. All they can hope for is another off night in front of goal. Let’s all hope that is not the case.
