Charlie Austin is set to move away from Queens Park Rangers with the freshly-relegated side unable to amount to much despite Austin’s impressive performances. The England striker now resides in the English Championship after a brief stint in the Premier League and given his prowess leading the line, it only makes sense that he is going to move this window.

Arsenal are in dire need of a striker and Austin could fit the bill. However, very few links have been made tying Arsenal to Charlie Austin and it is a wonder why. He certainly is not the prolific, world-class striker that the Gunners have been craving but he is no slouch. In his first year with QPR in the Championship, Austin netted 19 goals. He continued right where he left off when QPR rented a room in the EPL for the year, netting 18 goals and this year, back in the Championship, he is back to work, already notching 4 goals in just 5 matches (via WhoScored).

Charie Austin may not have tremendous technical ability, and that is what plagues Olivier Giroud, but Austin is a tried and true finisher, he has a fierce shot from any distance and he is a fiend in the air as well, making him a good offset for Olivier Giroud.

The English striker only figures to fetch a price in the £15 million range. For the goals that this man gets, that is a steal and a no-brainer for Arsene Wenger to pursue. Le Prof is a master of bringing out the most in his players, as we have seen in Laurent Koscielny, Aaron Ramsey and the like. Charlie Austin could be the next success story.

At just 26-years old, Austin’s tremendous goalscoring record could increase exponentially if he is placed in an attack as creative as Arsenal’s. If he can do near 20 with the talent around him at QPR, who knows how many he could do with Arsenal. The only drawback to Charlie Austin is that he does not pass as well as we may like, but with a striker crop that is slim-pickings, that is something that Wenger can put on his ‘to-do’ list.

We have seen Giroud’s passing increase masterfully over the past couple years and the same can be done with Austin. He does contribute on defense, so Wenger will be smiling ear to ear from that tidbit.

We cannot look at Charlie Austin as if he is beneath the ‘prestige’ of Arsenal. This is a club that has turned nobodies into somebodies and it would not be hard to do the same with Charlie Austin, who is already a somebody worth our money.
