Arsene Wenger’s and Mesut Ozil’s Cohesion Fantastic for Arsenal
By Josh Sippie
It is good for the grand commander to be in sync with his attacking general. Not only are the two in sync, but they have an absolute surplus of mutual respect and understanding. Arsene Wenger and Mesut Ozil are the two characters in this scenario, obviously, and the two have spoken of their shared affection recently.

“It is a pleasure to watch the quality of his passing and the intelligence of his passing,” Wenger has said of his midfield maestro. Wenger had a tough time starting Ozil at his preferred position when he first arrived, instead opting to play him on the left.
However, it may all have been part of one of Wenger’s many master plans. “He knows exactly how I tick and I know exactly what he thinks of me,” Ozil said of his gaffer.
This type of cohesion is invaluable for the prospect of Arsenal both now and in the long run. While Wenger’s tactics have frequently been called into question, mainly of late, knowing that he can make our main creative genius ‘tick’ is enough to convince me that this attack is not far from clicking fully. With Wenger and Ozil sharing the same vision, it is only a matter of time before that vision coincides.
All of this began in 2013, when Mesut Ozil opted to join Arsenal. It is easy to forget the ‘minor’ details like why someone joined a club. “I knew that Arsenal were always a technically-strong team. I decided to join this club because I know exactly what the manager wants from the team,” he said of his choice.
A vote of confidence from Mesut Ozil is enough to reinforce the credibility of a manager. Ozil is one of the best creative midfielders in the game today. He knows what it takes to win and he knows that Arsenal has exactly what it takes.

Mesut Ozil has created more chances than anyone else in the league so far this year with 76. His most recent assist, a deep long ball that landed perfectly on the foot of Theo Walcott, is just one of the many exceptional talents that Ozil has. More and more we are starting to see how crucial Ozil is to this team. Against Newcastle, many were blaming the lack of any real attacking edge in the Newcastle to the fact that Mesut Ozil was out. Whether that is true or not, the result is the same: Mesut Ozil has become the center piece of this team.
It may have taken a year or two, but now that Arsene Wenger and Mesut Ozil are really starting to gel mentally, this Arsenal team is going to start clicking. We saw it against Stoke City already. When the managers vision can be projected through his central midfielder, there is a lot to look forward to.
