Arsenal deceptively beat up Swansea to stay level on points with Manchester City at the top of the table. The 3-0 scoreline would indicate a major whooping, but the game was anything but. Playing in front of the Swans faithful at Liberty Stadium, Swansea City put on an excellent showing. Gary Monk was absolutely right to say that the scoreline gives too much credit to Arsenal.

It most certainly does. Arsenal were absolutely abysmal in the first half and were lucky to not surrender a goal. Or, maybe they were not necessarily lucky. It was thanks to Petr Cech. Mostly. Bafetimbi Gomis still majorly fluffed his lines but maybe it was the fact that Petr Cech was staring him in the eye had something to do with it. Maybe not.

Either way, Arsenal grinded out a really gritty win. Three more points. It may have been that the Sheffield United loss was still irking them in the first half of play but whatever was said at half time cleansed that horror story from their minds really quick. There should not be too many more disappointments like the League Cup in the future and it is hard to even call the League Cup a disappointment.

This is an Arsenal team that is unanimously being backed to compete for the title. Just like some of us said even when Arsenal was struggling. Sometimes seeing is believing.

Arsenal will be looking to ride this momentum in to face Bayern Munich on Wednesday, where they can vault themselves right back up into their Champion’s League group if successful.

Of course, it is never that easy.

With that in mind, let’s get started with five things we learned. It is nice to learn something new everyday, right? Starting with number five, we learned something rather unpleasant, but at least now we know.
