Thierry Henry has polished his legendary status with some more Arsenal-centered praise. He has pinpointed Dennis Bergkamp as the greatest player he has ever played with.

There are some people out there who go into retirement from the game and just fade away. Some will move to a different team and tarnish their legacy. Then there is Thierry Henry. Despite moving to Barcelona and then on to New York Redbulls, Thierry Henry is everything Arsenal. Everything he does, says and works towards is Arsenal. He is taking his legendary status trophy and polishing it on a daily basis.

I used to be pretty critical of what Henry was saying when he was a pundit. He has every right to critique the club, I just didn’t agree with him. But any time he has the opportunity to build the club, he does. He is the youth coach now at Arsenal and guys like Alex Iwobi are just smitten with the joy of playing under Henry. As well they should be.

In interviews, this guy always promotes Arsenal. When interviewed alongside that one person named Cesc Fabregas, he put him to shame with his answers. It left Fabregas in a stammering downward spiral.

One answer in particular is grabbing headlines, and for just cause. When asked who the number one team mate he ever had was, Henry looked past Zidane, Iniesta, Ibrahimovic, Messi and more in light of fellow Arsenal legend Dennis Bergkamp.

“Why? Because he was always doing what the game was asking him to do. I admired how Dennis was always trying to respect the game. He could score but he could also pass and wait for the right moment,” Henry said, via the Metro.

Henry went on to highlight the Dutchman’s ability to do what was needed for the team. Instead of going for glory any time he touched the ball, Bergkamp did what was necessary for Arsenal. As such, his team mates like Thierry Henry benefited as they were often recipients of his passes.

It really does speak volumes of a guy who does not even think when questioned about the club that made him famous. Henry has so much pride from his days at Arsenal that you just wait to see what he is going to say next. Everything builds the club up and sheds light on the work that they do.

Now all we have to do is keep him out of doing punditry and everything will be great.
