Arsenal Squad Right To Be Lauded By David Seaman
Arsenal legend David Seaman has lauded the Gunners’ current squad. Do Arsene Wenger’s players deserve to be so highly praised?
Arsenal are heading into next season with hopes and dreams of finally ending a Premier League drought that spans well over a decade. It has been a period of pain, disappointments and shortcomings, one in which Arsenal have so often offered so much hope, only to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

However, after Arsene Wenger finally dipped his hand in his pockets in recent years, the Gunners now have a squad capable of challenging the very best that England has to offer.
This is certainly a viewpoint that Arsenal legend David Seaman aligns himself with, stating that the Gunners’ squad is a quality one. The long time keeper said:

"“They need a central defender, they’ve signed a new midfield player now, get Vardy and then we’re looking good. You look at the spine of the team. You’ve got Petr Cech in goal, brilliant. We maybe need one center-half and then a striker. But they are additions to a great squad, it’s not as though the squad is crying out for it or performing badly. We did have a good season, we finished second.”"
Seaman is absolutely spot on here. In years gone by when fans have been pining for Wenger to invest in new players, it has been because the squad has been insufficient. However, nowadays, fans are calling for Wenger to invest in quality, not quantity.
That is due to the sheer amount of top players that Arsenal possess. Looking at the midfield displays the depth of quality that the Arsenal side now has. Players like Jack Wilshere, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Aaron Ramsey and Francis Coquelin are all likely not in the staring eleven. These are players that would walk into many other Premier League sides, and yet, they are struggling to see the field at the Emirates.
The squad is certainly not complete. Wenger needs to continue to add this Summer if Arsenal’s aspirations to secure that ever elusive Premier League title are satisfied, but with reports linking the Gunners to Jamie Vardy, Alvaro Morata and Riyad Mahrez, it seems as though Wenger is looking to act.

It remains to be seen whether Arsenal and Arsene Wenger are able to secure such high profile deals. However, the foundations of a world class squad already exist, and with the right additions, Arsenal could be set to stake their claim as the best team in the country. Then, they’ll just have to prove it.
