Arsenal: Mustafi Deal Beginning To Mirror Vardy Failure
Arsenal’s deal for Shkodran Mustafi is stalling in rather worrying fashion, and it could well fall through if past moves are to be repeated.
Arsenal are notoriously slow and indecisive when it comes to purchasing new players. They are the ultimate dilly-dalliers, perennially failing to complete deals due to a variety of disappointing, underwhelming and depressing reasons.

Throughout history, such failures have occurred on numerous occasions. From Luis Suarez to Mario Gotze, Mark Schwarzer to Julian Draxler, Arsenal have been linked with and made offers for a host of talented players, without any of them coming to the Emirates.

Once again, such transfer shortcomings could be set to haunt the Gunners, as reports state that their prospective move for Valencia centre-half Shkodran Mustafi has stalled in recent days. The reasons have not yet been announced, though from past talk, Arsenal and Mustafi had reached an agreement so it is likely, surprise surprise, that the two clubs have not been able to agree on a fee.
While a deal could well still go through, the indictment on Arsenal that they are horrifically hesitant in the transfer window is once again coming to the fore, and as time passes by, any possible deal seems less and less likely.
The stalling nature of the Mustafi deal is mirroring another failed signing earlier this summer. When Arsenal activated Jamie Vardy’s release clause for £20 million, it looked as though the transfer was a formality and mere matter of time. Ultimately, it was the very matter of the time that killed any life in Arsenal’s advances.
Vardy traveled to the European Championships with England, and after weeks of deliberation eventually rejected Arsenal’s offer in favour of staying with the Foxes. The killer of the deal was time, and as it passed by, hope dissipated from formerly hopeful fans.

The Mustafi deal has much the same character. Time is an opponent that has defeated Arsene Wenger and his transfer plans in the past, and if he and Arsenal are not decisive and deliberate in the coming days, then it could once again lay siege to yet another possible addition.
