Arsenal: Aaron Ramsey Caution Such A Telling Indicator
By Josh Sippie
Arsenal had welcomed Aaron Ramsey back to training, but now he has had another setback. This continued caution is a telling indication.
Arsenal‘s stout starting XI feels impenetrable. I don’t want to get too far ahead of myself, but I can’t see a single injury that would completely derail the whole shebang.

Obviously injuries to Ozil or Alexis would be pretty tough, but they would not be impossible to overcome. Not with Iwobi’s continued grown, Walcott’s reemergence and even with what we hope will be an inspired return from Granit Xhaka.
That being said, we are still without Aaron Ramsey. The Welsh wizard has suffered another setback and will miss what would have been the perfect return match against Ludogorets. Wenger called it a ‘vicious cycle’ and it’s hard to think of a better way to describe it. We have been here before.
However, the fact that we can be so cautious with Ramsey is a massive indicator of the state of this squad, particularly the depth in midfield. I recall not too long ago, when we had to rush Ramsey back into the fray, which led to more setbacks and more injuries. It’s happened with other players as well.
Forcing half-injured players into the starting XI to compensate for a lack of options is a one-way ticket to a fiasco. More injuries and a lack of effectiveness result.
It doesn’t look like we will be facing that problem any time soon. Wenger has indicated that he wants to give Ramsey a complete preseason before he comes back into the team. That means an(other) extended layoff without the often prolific midfielder in our midst.

But, and correct me if I’m wrong, we don’t exactly need him. Although I must say, I can’t wait to see him back and integrated into this team and potentially getting in the way of the Coqzorla monopoly, but unlike 2013/14, we are not stranded and without hope without him.
I don’t believe there is anything unsavory going on behind the scenes with Ramsey – not like I believe is going on with Giroud. We just have no reason to risk the Welshman because of the wealth of options we have.
I really cannot wait to see Ramsey back in the fold. This new, powerful offense could do wonders to let him express his creativity and return to the form that we have long thought passed. All he needs is a little freedom.
