Arsenal has been blessed with the return of Olivier Giroud. Which has been met with a return to international duty at the expense of someone else.
Arsenal has been proving that they don’t need Olivier Giroud this season. Alexis Sanchez has been on a tear at the front of the formation, living up to the idea that he can be the same as Luis Suarez or Sergio Aguero. Similar, at least.

That being said, Having Olivier Giroud back is pretty damn awesome. The big man is incredibly motivated, he’s scoring goals, he’s getting the job done. And he has just now returned to the starting XI. He has yet to start a game and not score, in fact.
Such exploits get rewarded, and Giroud has been rewarded with a return to the French national team upon his return to health. As I’ve said, not a bad gig, really.
Normally, this wouldn’t be that big of a deal. Giroud is absolutely an international quality striker and one of the best physical strikers out there. Theonly reason why I am drawing attention to this is because of who he replaced. Anthony Martial.
I am oneof those petty folk that will always find a reason to make fun of Manchester United. The fact that the Special One has landed them in eighth place is so glorious that I wake up every morning, check the table, and have myself a day.
I’m easy to please.

Let me take this a bit further. United spent a stupid amount of money on Martial and he can’t even start regularly with the Red Devils. In just under 600 minutes, Martial has scored two goals and registered two assists.
Compare that to Giroud who, in just under 200 minutes, has scored three goals.
There is one big way to look at it – Arsenal’s past is better than United’s future. Olivier Giroud is in the latter stages of his career, he is definitely on his last leg in North London, and yet he is still providing more for both club and country than the young, ‘next Thierry Henry’ Anthony Martial.
Sometimes, it’s small things like this that make everything so much better. It’s already good enough with Arsenal six places up on United and eight points clear, but little side plots like this should bring about smiles. Giroud, who is as polarizing a Gunner as they come, is still one-upping Martial.
