Arsenal: Riechedly Bazoer Must Be Top Transfer Priority

Arsenal are always in the market for outstanding young talents (who isn’t?) and as such, nobody should be a higher priority than Riechedly Bazoer.

Arsenal‘s work in the prospect transfer market has been rather quiet lately. Compared to last season, where Wenger signed something like 13 teenagers, this year has seen just Kelechi Nwakali brought to town.

While Nwakali is a fantastic talent and the next Yaya Toure (so they say), there is still room for more improvement. And conveniently enough, that opportunity for improvement is ripe for the taking in Dutch super-talent Riechedly Bazoer.

The Dutchman is currently at Ajax, but has revealed that he is ready for the next step. Apparently Milan has stepped in and taken the lead in the race, but I have no doubts that, with Wenger’s skewing towards the Dutch way, particularly with the addition of Donyell Malen, that Bazoer can be lured if he sees the same thing Bellerin did. Treat him like a priority. It has a profound effect on people.

Bazoer is a Patrick-Vieira-type midfielder that can do everything. Now 20 years old, he is showing an ability to be that all-purpose guy that anchors a midfield and can have an entire team built around him. He would shoot right to the top of Arsenal’s top prospects list, rivaling even Jeff Reine-Adelaide and his would-be Dutch team mate, Donyell Malen.

More from Pain in the Arsenal

There is a wealth of options coming up in the Gunner’s rank, particularly at the position that Bazoer plays, but that should by no means be a detractor. The very idea of he and Nwakali fulfilling their potential thriving in Arsenal’s midfield is so tantalizing. If both can live up to their expectations, they could even surpass what Vieira and Gilberto would be able to do (is that heresy?)

He’s just a talent that can’t be passed up on. It drove many Gooners crazy when Kondogbia went to Inter over the Gunners, but it would be even crazier if Bazoer went to Milan instead of North London. Mainly because they are so similar and such a type that Arsenal was spoiled by in Vieira.

Plus, more competition is never a bad thing. Let the best of the best fight each other for the coveted positions and everyone blossoms around it. And, if sales have to be made, that’s perfectly swell too.
