Carl Jenkinson and Kieran Gibbs

.Arsene Wenger has showed a fairly unwavering policy in terms of who he starts in the Champions League compared to who he starts in the Premier League. It’s almost identical aside from David Ospina.

More from Pain in the Arsenal

However, this change at fullback that I’m proposing comes from a need to compensate for Hector Bellerin’s absence. The Spaniard was a missing piece because Arsenal had very little help coming from deep. Once the ball approached the opposing goal, there were no reinforcements.

That can change if you swap Gibbs for Monreal.

Part of the greatness of the Monreal and Bellerin partnership is that the former can sit back and the latter can run freely. Jenko and Monreal both stay back more times than not, giving very little help on the overlap.

All you need to do to reinvigorate that desired lopsidedness is let Jenko stay and put the high-flying Gibbs in for Monreal.

Not only that, but Monreal was rather poor against Manchester United, so seeing a new face out there would be kind of nice.
