Olivier Giroud and Mesut Ozil

If Olivier Giroud is planted on his arse again on Wednesday, I have already promised that I will publicly lose my mind on Twitter. I hold to that promise. He has to play. He has to be rewarded for his work, he has to give Alexis a rotation up front and he has to be allowed to keep scoring goals.

Goals are a good thing, and right now, no one is scoring goals as frequently as the big Frenchman. The best way to maximize that return is to give him more minutes. That internal competition that has fired him up is still going to be there. He knows what is on the line and he wants that starting role. So let him taste it. Let him gave a glimpse of what he wants with him knowing full well that, given that this is Arsene Wenger, he probably won’t be starting at striker against Bournemouth.

Mesut Ozil needs Olivier Giroud. The assists will come when Giroud is starting. He creates so much space for The German maestro to work with – space that simply has not been there with Alexis up front.

It was no coincidence that Ozil’s assist account opened up when Giroud came back into the fray.

This is what I would do if I was in Wenger’s shoes. Which I’m not. And that makes me sad. What changes would you make, Gooners?
