Arsenal definitely need some added umph with their attack after this recent streak. Maybe Danny Welbeck can be what we’ve always wanted.

It’s nearly December. Like, I didn’t even realize that it was sneaking up on us and, just like that, Danny Welbeck’s return to Arsenal action isn’t that far away. It’s crazy to think about, but the excitement is there and it is fresh and wonderful.

Mainly because the Gunner’s are suddenly having so much trouble scoring from open play. Their last three goals have come from two own goals and a penalty.

Danny Welbeck has had his struggles with latching onto a competing striker role with Arsenal, but there are certain talents he has that are undeniable, and those things will be incredibly welcomed when he does return.

I have spoken fairly often about Wenger’s suddenly depleted options out wide. It seems like just yesterday it hit me that when you get down to the number of true wingers we actually have, there are only three, and I’m hesitant to include Alex Iwobi in that mix, simply because he doesn’t seem to exude that same winger ability as Walcott or the Ox, our other two wingers.

Danny Welbeck can serve a masterful purpose in this attack. If he works his way back into the starting XI, it will be like having three strikers on the pitch at once. Welbeck, Alexis and Giroud all on the field at once? Those are three names that know how to score and know what to do in front of the net.

Again, Welbeck hasn’t shown that finishing ability just yet, at least not in club football, but we know he knows how to find the back of the net.

Plus, you never have to worry about Welbeck’s work rate. The man is a stallion, busting his arse up and down the flank to help out on every possible front that he can.

Not only that, but, as we witnessed against Leicester in perhaps the most exciting goal in recent memory, he has the aerial ability to be a threat. His combination of size and speed can cause defenses so much trouble in every facet of the game, open play and set piece alike.

While the return of Danny Welbeck does not spell good times for Lucas Perez, it certainly spells good times ahead for this Arsenal attack.
