Arsenal Transfer Rumors: Julian Draxler Talks Prematurely Ending
By Josh Sippie
Arsenal has been tied to Julian Draxler for awhile and it looks more realistic than ever. And yet, suddenly everything about the deal is off.
There are certain players that Arsenal are always going to be linked to. Julian Draxler is one of those guys. The links are overwhelming in quantity and have continued over the past three or so years.

It’s easy to see why, as the lad is incredibly talented and can play a variety of positions. That versatility that he boasts is like Play-Doh® for Wenger. He could turn Draxler into literally anything ahead of the back line and I wouldn’t put it past Le Prof to turn him into a fullback.
Still, in all seriousness, there is room for Draxler as a utility man that can grow into more. He can play wide, which is suddenly not such a stocked position for the Gunners, he can play centrally, as a sort of an understudy to Ozil (which, with Ramsey always likely to leave, could be useful), he can even play up front if we absolutely need it.
And aside from fullback, he could play a holding role too, with enough training, which he has time to accomplish.
To add to the fuel, Draxler was booed by his own fans, which he honestly can’t even be that mad about. He did go off about how much he wants to leave Wolfsburg, so fans are absolutely within their rights to boo the absolute hell out of him.

Juventus and Arsenal seemed to be the front runners to land the talented young German, but now, suddenly (or not so suddenly, if you know Wenger), the Gunners look unlikely to continue their pursuit.
The problem is that Draxler has to move in January. There is just no way he can keep playing for this club that A) he doesn’t like and B) doesn’t like him anymore. This should seem like good news because, with Cazorla out, Arsenal could feasibly use more creative talent on the offensive end of the ball.
But not so fast.
Various reports, including words from Wenger himself, indicate that January is not a time for buying for the Gunners. Le Prof is rightfully confident enough in his own club to stick with his guys and, while a bit of spending would be fun, it is hard to argue with him.

Whatever. Save the money and buy Griezmann this summer. I like that better.
