Arsenal may be struggling to lock down one key duo, but another duo, Francis Coquelin and Olivier Giroud, have shown their class.

Contracts are the name of the game for Arsenal at the moment. The past and the future are coming together in their vying for a prolonged stay at this club – or to seek their fortunes elsewhere.

Obviously the big names we all want updates on are Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil. This dynamic duo is the wind in this attacks sails. But, that being said, they aren’t the only source of wind. Just the most powerful source.

Locking down Hector Bellerin was just as big of a deal and the two most recent deals are pretty damn big too.

The French duo of Francis Coquelin and Olivier Giroud have locked into new deals with the club of their heart and, given the time that it took for them to sign (or lack of time, I should say) just oozes class. There was no second guessing with these two. They know where they want to be and given the opportunity to bet here, they took it.

Francis Coquelin is one thing. He inherited such a big responsibility and has flourished in that role, making it his own and proving that he deserved every second of game time he merited.

But Olivier Giroud is something else entirely. And I mean something else. I always preach about Giroud and how he is taken for granted, but this really is in a class in and of itself.

More from Pain in the Arsenal

Even with Giroud’s agent coming out not so long ago and saying that his client wasn’t going anywhere, the fact that it took Giroud next to no time to re-sign as a Gunner is a whopping indication of how much class this man has.

Think about it. Who else in the history of the Gunners has taken as much flak as him? Not only that, but he is relied upon in such a large capacity. And now that he isn’t getting as much game time, at no fault of his, Alexis is just a badass, he still didn’t even bat an eye when it came to signing a new deal.

My friends, that is what class and loyalty looks like. Through and through, Olivier Giroud is a Gunner. I could not be happier to have him back on this team for even longer.

Well, I guess I could be happier, if Ozil and Alexis sign too.
