Arsenal look set to miss out on Mesut Ozil’s buddy Julian Draxler yet again, but we are here to help you get over what sorrow you have at this miss.

Everywhere Julian Draxler goes, Arsenal are linked to him. No matter the place. No matter the standing. No matter any detail available, the Gunner’s will always be linked to the German. Even now that he has agreed to a move to PSG, you can bet that these North London links aren’t going anywhere.

This shouldn’t be a foreign feeling, as we have “missed out” on the man before, but I have to believe that there was more belief than ever that this move was going to happen. For two reasons.

First of all, there seemed to be something oddly truthful about the rumors that Ozil wanted Draxler to come to the Emirates. Rumors like that get kicked up all the time, but rarely involving Mesut Ozil. Plus, if it was baseless, they could just as easily have said Mertesacker or Mustafi was pulling for him.

The part that Ozil wanted him at the Emirates as part of his contract, well, that might have been a bit different. As in less believable.

Secondly, Arsenal could actually use that added dose of inspiration now more than ever. This over reliance on Mesut Ozil that leads to either success or failure is a frustrating thing and barring some out-of-body performances from Iwobi or the Ox, the Gunners have little to no recourse after Ozil gets shut out of the match.

More from Pain in the Arsenal

That being said, Arsene Wenger did prepare us for this. Not just by saying he was not going to do any heavy spending this January, but also given his track record. Major January signings are a huge disruption to the Wenger process.

Or at least that’s what he believes and hey, he’s a bit more experienced than I.

We just have to hold out hope that Ramsey can find his footing and that the Ox can come back healthy and ready to continue his best season ever, because we are going to be living and dying by the Ozil this year.

I’m not going to say that’s as scary as it sounds, but as we have seen, it can definitely have adverse effects.

Maybe Ramsey gets a few run outs at the No. 10 role. Does that make me totally crazy to even suggest? Probably. Long live Mesut Ozil.
