7. A damn clean sheet

Maybe I’m being picky here. Maybe I’m being ungrateful. There are only four teams in the entire Premier League that have given up less goals than Arsenal. So if you really want to get into this defense, you can’t be that upset. They have been a major improvement on last year and with Mustafi and Koscielny, we have a partnership for the ages.

But what do the Gunners have to do to goose egg and opponent? The last time Arsenal blanked a team in the Premier League and won, it was 2 October! Three major holidays will have passed (assuming West Brom don’t put one past) between winning clean sheets.

That’s whack-o.

Again, it’s not a condemnation of this defense, as sometimes it’s a goofy penalty or a slipped up coverage. One little thing gone wrong and Arsenal go home up 5-1 instead of 5-0. Seems like a minor difference, but we need to start weeding out those mistakes that are leading to silly goals conceded.

Why?

Look at City and Everton – Arsenal were up 1-0 in both matches before losing. Stiffen up!

Next up, how’s about that one guy?
