Arsenal: Emmanuel Adebayor’s Subtext Oozing With Saltiness
By Josh Sippie
Arsenal is apparently only made up of Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil, according to Emmanuel Adebayor. Which only proves that he is sad. And salty. And wrong.
Arsenal has had periods of being dependent on people. They are few and far between, but they happen. When Robin van Persie was here, it was do or die with the Flying Dutchman. His goals were just about everything this team lived on.

It got kind of close to that with Alexis Sanchez when he first came to the Emirates in 2014/15. Everything went through him. But that was more an issue of him being so determined and so gung-ho about getting into the flow that there was just no getting the ball off of him.
Emmanuel Adebayor, however, begs to differ. While his comments seemed tame on the surface, the subtext was just oozing with the saltiness of someone who is not on the best of terms with the Gunners.
Adebayor pointed out that if Alexis or Ozil gets hurt, it’s a problem. Duh. If anyone gets hurt it’s a problem. That is a tame, pointless comment.
He also compared it to Chelsea. If Eden Hazard gets hurt, they have Willian. Then they have Moses. True. But that’s unfair for two reasons. Firstly, Alexis Sanchez is better than Hazard. Much better.
Secondly, if Alexis gets hurt, we have the Ox or Iwobi. Are they as good? No. But Willian and Moses aren’t Hazard either. Nor would they have anyone to cover Diego Costa. It’s all picking and choosing what fits your argument. And again. It’s a ridiculously tame comment that I think emanates from the fact that Adebayor doesn’t want to come out and actually say what it is we are all accusing him of.

Which, by the way, is completely false.
Alexis has only scored 29% of Arsenal’s goals. Diego Costa, Zlatan, Harry Kane and Romelu Lukaku have all scored a higher percentage of goals for their side than Alexis. Therefore all of those men are more relied upon for goals than our Chilean stalwart.
And by the way, this whole subtle jabbing is doing Olivier Giroud a massive disservice.
No one is doubting that he is a massive part of the tea. Not a soul. But to even infer that the Gunners helpless without them? That’s a bid daft, if we’re being honest. Before Arsenal had them, they still continuously finished in the same positions in the table.
Maybe Adebayor is just salty because after his North London treachery, he never regained the form he once showed. Maybe it’s the fact that he is subbing in at Crystal Palace. Which, by the way, how’s he even got time to watch the Gunners. Shouldn’t he be practicing?
