Arsenal reveled in the sight of Alexis Sanchez’s new banner, depicting the Chilean next to his two dogs, Atom and Humber. Who really cares, though?

Arsenal is in full-on appease mode when it comes to Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil. Losing them would be heart-wrenching and it would put the club in a position that they don’t want to be in. It’s all hands on deck.

Which apparently means putting up a banner of Alexis Sanchez with his dogs at the Emirates. Everyone Gooner knows how much the Chilean loves his pups. Atom and Humber get about as much tabloid coverage as Lucas Perez. So maybe seeing his dogs proudly displayed as part of the family at the Emirates will do a bit of good?

It’s not likely. I will say that after he was subbed off against Swansea and was less than happy, I proposed the idea of letting Atom and Humber onto the pitch with Alexis.

See? I did say it.

Maybe this is the next best thing. Maybe if he is subbed off in a 7-0 drubbing he can look up, see his dogs and smile.

Or maybe this is just a bit of fun that doesn’t really matter.

There have been some people out there on social media calling this an embarrassment. Seriously, they are. The idea of a banner with Alexis and two dogs apparently makes them a one-man club. It’s horrible logic and cringe-worthy.

Again, it’s just a bit of fun. Nothing more.

More from Pain in the Arsenal

Alexis is just as big a part of this club as any other superstar is to their club. De Buryne, Diego Costa, Zlatan – all these guys are huge parts of their club. It doesn’t mean that they are one-man clubs.

And if City were to have a banner of De Bruyne and his cats (I assume he’s a cat person) then who really cares?

This is another edition of much ado about nothing. Last time we covered Petr Cech being spotted on a train. Truly he is a living Clark Kent.

We also covered the rumor that Jack Wilshere was selling his house, which apparently meant that he was leaving the club. Because, you know, that’s all that it could possibly mean.

This banner is a bit of god fun. It’s something we can smile at when the stresses of being a Gooner get us down. It would be nice if we could leave it at that.
