Arsenal Transfer Rumors: Marco Reus Remains Pipe Dream
By Josh Sippie
Arsenal are yet again tied to a deal with Marco Reus and this time their is a price tag. But do we really believe that this move is going to happen?
You can’t got a transfer window with Arsenal being linked to Marco Reus. The German playmaker is continuously tied to the Gunners despite his numerous promises that he would never leave Dortmund. He has followed through on those promises, sticking with them through some of their worst times as stars like Robert Lewandowski, Mario Gotze and Mats Hummels all left.

But with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and the return of Gotze, Reus has no reason to be unhappy. Dortmund are not in the greatest of standings in the Bundesliga, but they are still pushing for the Champions League and so long as that is the case, any links to Reus have to be taken like a grain of salt.
Still, it’s hard not to get excited about it. For as tantalizing as it was to think about Julian Draxler coming to Arsenal, having Reus come would be doubly so. However, most links involve an Alexis Sanchez exit being the spark to push the deal forward and that should not be the case.
A front four of Alexis, Ozil, Reus and Giroud would rock the Premier League. They are already doing it now, without Reus. Relying on youngsters like Iwobi and the Ox while suffering the regular disappearances of Walcott could be replaced by the superstar (when healthy) German.

That is fun to think about.
Not wanting to throw fuel on this farcical fire, but this may well be the first time that a Reus rumor has come out where there are numbers involved.
According to the report from the Express, the Gunners would offer in excess of £50m for the German’s services, which, while massive, is actually not that implausible.
But the nugget that makes this really tantalizing is the idea that Arsenal could offer Reus a four year contract, locking him in until he is in his 30s. That may be something that could appeal to the German.

Still, this move has never been that likely. Reus is a Dortmund man through and through and he has proven that with words and actions alike. His priorities are in tact and unless the club pulls a Samir Nasri on Reus, there isn’t a whole lot that can pierce this admirable relationship between club and player.
