Arsenal may well have sealed their own fate in a paltry loss to Watford and one thing became clear – it may be time for Aaron Ramsey to move.

Arsenal knew the stakes of the match against Watford. With Chelsea at the weekend, they could pull the title race incredibly close.

So, in typical Arsenal fashion, they came out slow, uninterested and dull. And it gave Watford a 2-0 lead in the first quarter hour. Not a single Gunner looked like he wanted to be on that pitch. Maybe the rain was ruining their hair. Who knows.

The point is, without pulling a single point from a home match against Watford (I used italics because I was trying really hard not to cuss), the Gunners might have allowed Chelsea to go home free with another title.

There’s still time though. What there might not be time for is Aaron Ramsey. The Welshman was massive part of the guilty party before going down with yet another calf injury. He was replaced by Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain who continued right where he left off.

I always thought that it was just a matter of time with Ramsey, but it’s beginning to look like I was wrong. Ramsey does not have time. He can’t get any consistency going and this new injury will likely set things back, as he called for an immediate substitution.

When he comes back (as of writing, the extent of the injury was not known), that position that he was finally starting to regrow into will not be there. He doesn’t have the luxury of hanging out and taking his time to get his feet underneath him. The Ox is asserting himself, Xhaka will be back and Elneny will be too (hopefully).

As much as it pains me to say, selling Ramsey this summer would be the best option. The Welshman could still fetch a nice price for his skills and Arsenal can turn that money into something more useful, because Ramsey has just been a font of frustration for some time.

Whatever happens, at least we have options. As mentioned, the Ox came on and did his job very well, although he came up limp too, which is massively bothersome. Hopefully he can shake it off in time for Chelsea.

Elsewhere, it looks like Granit Xhaka’s suspension is going to hurt us worse than we thought. This midfield is suddenly bone dry.
