Arsenal Vs Bayern Munich: Arturo Vidal Must Be Completely Ignored
Arturo Vidal has urged Arsenal to attack when they play Bayern Munich. If Arsene Wenger wants to win, then he must completely ignore the Chilean’s advice.
Entering the season, the aim for Arsenal was to continue the progression of recent seasons. That entails a sustained and genuine title challenge, another run towards what would be a third FA Cup win in four years and qualification for the quarter-finals of the Champions League and perhaps further.

The former is over by February, the FA Cup is still a possibility but the Champions League is looking rather precarious. Having squeezed past Paris Saint-Germain as the number one qualifier from Group A, the Gunners were hopeful of a favourable draw. That they did not get.

Once again Arsene Wenger must set his side up to take on the might of Bayern Munich. Although the German giants have not enjoyed the same form this season as in recent years, they are still blessed with wonderfully gifted players who are capable of demolishing even the very best of opposition. Midfielder Arturo Vidal, when asked about the upcoming tie with the North London club, stated that he hoped their visitors would not look to sit deep defend bur rather attack at the risk of opening up the game:
"“Teams have to show what they are made of in Europe. That is why Bayern will show its true face in the Champions League. Here in Germany, teams are set to defend when they play Bayern. In the Champions League, teams try to play football. I hope Arsenal will play like they have been playing all season in England and want to play football against us.”"
Wenger is an astute, experienced manager and I am sure he will not listen to a word the opposition players spout before kick off. Nonetheless, he is notoriously rigid with his tactics, rarely willing to adapt his approach, an approach that looks to dominate possession, play tight, intricate passes with the intention of creating chances and scoring goals.
If Arsenal play in the same manner against Bayern, then this game will not be a contest. Carlo Ancelotti’s side are far too good for Wenger to take them on. The offensive firepower of the Germans – Robert Lewandowski, Thomas Muller, Douglas Costa – mean that Wenger must play with defence the priority and hope to threaten on the counter.
