Sadly for us Gooners, we had so much to look forward to regarding Sanogo’s growth. He came when he was 20-years-old and could’ve been one of those French forwards that completely thrived under Arsene Wenger.

That never happened. Sanogo’s career (so far at the Emirates) has been a massive disappointment. Injuries have really plagued and stunted his growth and it shows when you see his stats.

Through his four quiet seasons in North London, in which he has made just 20 competitive appearances for the first team, he’s only notched (sadly) one goal. Yes, I understand that injuries have been a huge factor for his stats, but that won’t cut it. Twenty appearances and only one goal? That just simply won’t cut it. Especially not a striker.

But let’s not feel too sympathetic over Sanogo’s flop North London career.

There is plenty to be excited about with this news. When people leave, that means people will come. That has to be the case with Sanogo’s departure.

We have all heard the news that the Gunners have made an offer for Nigerian striker Henry Onyekuru. Onyekuru lead the Jupiler League in goals scored which is a remarkable accomplishment for a player who is only 20 years old.

The Gunners also have a copious amount of other young attacking prospects to look forward to that don’t need to be purchased. Chuba Akpom, Eddie Nketiah, Donyell Malen and co. provide a lot to look forward to as their careers progress.

Sanogo turned from a player with high hopes, to one that has become an Arsene Wenger blunder joining Lord Bendtner and Marouane Chamakh as players the Gooners can laugh at and try their best to forget about.
